Ever wondered what is the logic behind garage door insulation?
Why do we need it at all? Most of the houses make use of garages for multiple tasks which is subjective by nature. They might be using it as like an extension to their backyard, as children’s play space, like a work-space, as a laundry room, and many more. Therefore, it is quite important to maintain the temperature inside as well. As observed in most of the cases, swamp coolers fail to do so in the presence of the odd natured weather.
It is advised to go for garage insulation just in case you haven’t done it during the garage door installation process. If you want to know more about that in detail, you can always check our site out: http://www.westerndoorandgate.com/

Talking about insulation, well, it is an effective solution for anyone making use of it. The reason being that it has a tendency to reduce your house's electricity bills by keeping the garage warm. It also helps in soundproofing the area. As a result, it helps in making life more quiet and peaceful, warmer and cozy, and bright.

You can always purchase the insulation materials and do the task by yourself. But it is obvious that you shall get more effective results if you hire a professional for Garage doors related services in your zone.
For most of the areas of your house such as the attic, living room etc., it is advised to go for the same techniques of insulation which you have used for the rest of your house. While for the garage, you can either buy specified insulation kits or purchase Styrene foam if the insulation intensity of the material matches your requirement. As the experts suggest, keep a count of the R-value of the material (R-value is a mark of defiance of the material to heat flow i.e. the thermal resistance).

Here are the three common insulation types:

Foam board insulation These rigid panels are made from polystyrene. For relatively meager thickness, they handover high insulating values ranging from ½ inch thick (R-3.3) to 1 inch (R-6.5). This kind of insulation is often used for aluminum and vinyl.

Batt insulation Batt insulation is generally made of fiberglass and is filled within the exterior walls. The insulation is retreated by paper or foil to barricade the vapor and air. With insulating values of R-3 to R-4 per inch of thickness, it costs about 30 cents per sq. ft.

Reflective insulation highly reflective aluminum foil is applied to one or both sides of insulation materials, such as cardboard or polyethylene bubbles. Rigid boards and rolls of this insulation radiant heat. Reflective Insulation is an ideal choice for garages that heat up in the summer or hot climates. Its R-value ranges from 4 to 6, depending on how you apply it.
You can use the insulation methods mentioned above depending on the type of garage door you have at your place. The steel garage doors are capable of accommodating all types of insulation methods. At the same time, Foam Board or Reflective Insulation is ideal for flat garage doors.

Different methods are used for wood frame and panel doors. Weight is eventually added to the garage doors after insulation that is usually not a problem with 8-9 ft. For this reason, it is always recommended to hire a professional.
