Ballard Designs Knock-Off Chalkboard

I've always wanted one of those pricey framed chalkboards from Ballard Designs...but it wasn't in my budget, so...I made one. I found this picture in a consignment shop and loved the ornate frame. The picture was printed on a hardboard, not canvas, so I added chalk paint and a stencil...and now I have a very cool, inexpensive chalkboard!

I used Annie Sloan's Chateau Grey for the frame and CeCe Caldwell's Vermont Slate for the chalkboard part.

Ilove your chalkboard.. I am trying to make one my self that is both magnetic and a chalk board, I have read to buy a piece of sheet metal, or thin plywood, I am not sure which would be better, since you have made yours and its chalkboard only, what would you suggest to make mine both, magnetic, and chalk, and the paint to use? thanks for your help. I've read about a magnetic paint though I haven't used it. You could try that under the chalk paint.
