Let's insulate the crawlspace!

Our 100 year old house has a very chilly kitchen addition. Insulating the crawlspace under it was our first attempt to warm things up. And, being in the crawlspace is just such fun.
It's important to have the right outfit for the event.
That's why they call it a crawlspace I guess.
No one can look good in this lighting.

  • Thanks Jennifer. Your home is gorgeous. No spider would DARE live there, unless it was very attractive and therefore non-scary. The kind of spider that goes by the name Charlotte.
  • The since the outside walls at the perimeter of the crawlspace were insulated the floor system is already inside the building envelope, so the floor should not need to be insulated. One thing to check is wether a vapor barrier was installed on top of the dirt in the crawl space. This reduces the moisture in the crawl space and improves the performance of the insulation.
