Creating Art With Old Postage Stamps
by

There are so many fun things to do with old postage stamps. I decided to create a bit of art for Spring.
I watered down three shades of blue paint and applied it to a canvas in a slip slap manner. Stroking a few times in one direction and then stroking the opposite direction while still wet. A touch of Coral was added in the corner for a hint of sunlight.
The branch was cut out using a Cricket machine and then stenciled on. Green stamps were used to make dimensional leaves.
I traced the bird shape on to poster board and glued the stamps down. After gluing the stamps I retraced the bird and cut it out.
I placed a brown stamp on the birds beak and feet.
These stamps were found in an old Dr's bag my sister had. Didn't have the heart to throw them out. So glad I didn't! The possibilities are endless!

Stephanie on Feb 17, 2015You can put your stamps to an even better use. Send them to the Stamp Ministry. Alliance Stamp Ministry, 15000 Shell Point Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33908. From here, they are processed and sold to collectors. The money is used to purchase children's Bible study materials, especially in Latin American countries.
