Carpet beetles in bedroom

I recently inherited my Grandmother's 130 year old house. Upstairs had not been used for the past 20 years until I moved in. In my bedroom I have carpet beetles and don't know how to get rid of them. Seems like the more I weep and shampoo carpet the more I have. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? Without ripping up carpet and replacing it?

...carpet beetles can be hard to get rid of, you usually have to remove ALL the areas that they are feeding on. The reason they are so ' happy' there, is that they live in places that are dark, unused, undistributed . This might not be something you wish to hear, but its best to call in a professional exterminator to help you.

Rip out the old carpet, replace with hardwood, laminate, or new carpet. You might even have hardwood under the carpet.
