DIY Artwork: Make the Canvas, Painting, and Frame #wallcandy

I needed a piece of artwork to go between these two doors that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Upcycling saved me.
First, the inner frame and canvas were made from furring strips and drapery liner.
Then... the painting came together using about six different colors of left-over latex paint and a combo of sponge and bristle brushes. I used a stencil because I have no known artistic skills. :-( I know. It's so sad.
And, the last step is to make a frame...that is.....if you want one.
Then hang your masterpiece for all to enjoy.
This post is explained in great detail in 3 sections....the canvas, the painting, and the frame. Plus...there are many pics to illustrate progress through each step. It will be a pleasure to share this info http://thechelseaprojectblog.wordpress.com or via direct link at the URL below.

JEANNE BOLLEY on Mar 05, 2015It looks amazing. I love it and I am very hard to please on anything DIY...if it doesn't look perfect, I don't like it. Great job!

This came out beautifully. It looks like the "canvas" was ungesso'd? I like how the paint absorbed into the cloth.
