How can I make a heat pad for my box turtle
-
Cindy Hughes Nock on Feb 16, 2015I used to heat a hot water bottle for a couple minutes in the microwave every night and put it in the bottom of my cockatiel's cage and cover the cage at night. Box turtle might like a hot water bottle too? You could make a cover for it if you think it might be too hot.Helpful Reply

Capernius on May 03, 2015what about a lamp with a gooseneck(flexible stem) & then put a 40 or 60 watt bulb in it....bend the lamp so that the heat from the bulb is directed at the turtle...if the 60 is not big enough, go 75 watt....you should not need a bulb larger than 75 watts... I have never had a turtle, so this is all just a guess... I looked around a bit & all the places I saw said to use a regular heating mat but do not go any higher than medium....low was the most preferred.Helpful Reply
