What to do with a spare bedroom
The room is approx 12 x 11 and will house the sewing machine cabinet and a rustic armoir. My husband wanted to build a Murphy bed but since it would rarely be used I don't want to spend $500 + for this. Any ideas?

Jodi Samson on Feb 21, 2015Our spare room is my craft/ sewing room. What do you enjoy doing? Maybe a mini den for reading or just listening to music.Helpful Reply

Shelby @ The Weathered Barn Studio on Feb 21, 2015ohhhh that is SO nice...to have an extra room ! If I had one, it would be my craft room....:) Why not make into a room " just for you"...with your sewing machine, a nice chaise lounge ( for reading and napping. Sounds divine ! lol ) , a nesting table set , for next to your chaise lounge, a lovely lamp...make it about things that ' speak to you'. The amoire might be the ' jumping off ' place in which you decide how to use your room. :)Helpful Reply

Nancy Nesbitt on Feb 21, 2015Don't discount your sewing/decorating so soon...life changes do happen, or you could sew items for charitable causes. How about a library? A storage room? A meditation or prayer room? Exercise room? Hobby room? Out-of-season clothes or decor storage? Music room for practice or listening? So many ideas but only you can decide how to fit it into your lifestyle.Helpful Reply

Elen on Feb 22, 2015How about a "MOM CAVE"?? A room just for you. Or, like me, you can put your exercise equipment in there. I have an inversion table and an elliptical machine with a flat screen TV, plus a couple of bookcases.Helpful Reply

Kayo Frazier on Jan 13, 2016Here's my 2 cents...You could make a book nook/mini library that can also be an extra bed for grand kids when they visit. Make a platform big enough for a twin bed, you could also add a trundle bed underneath if you have more than 1 grand kid. Then add some floor to ceiling curtains to make it ever cozier or a ready made fort for the grand kids. Then add a ton of throw pillows, a silken duvet or comforter w/ some faux fur throw blankets. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply
