Timothy hay recycling

by Jodi
I use timothy hay as part of the bedding for my 2 guinea pigs. I do a complete change of their house every 2 to 3 days so I go through a lot of hay. I usually dump it into the fire pit and burn it off every few weeks but I'm thinking it might have another use. Can I recycle it for the garden? We don't compost but should I just dump it on the garden and then till it under this spring? It will have piggy poo mixed in :)

According to Kansas State you can use Timothy hay and rabbit manure in composting, so I would think the guinea pig manure would fall in the same category. You would want to make sure the Timothy hay hadn't been treated with any form of herbicide. http://www.sedgwick.ksu.edu/p.aspx?tabid=432
