Charlotte phillips on Feb 23, 2015They like much more sun than that. My brother and my neighbor have large plants in full sun. Also, Tyler has fairly acidic soil while we are all dealing with soil that is alkaline.Helpful Reply

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Feb 23, 2015Rosemary likes well drained soil and does not like to stand in water. You can tell when it is getting too dry because it will turn a grayish faded color. How big a plant are you starting with and how often are you watering it? How cold does it get where you live? Rosemary does not handle quick temperature changes or extreme cold for very long.Helpful Reply

Lavende on Feb 24, 2015Rosemary is pretty low maintenance actually. Mine get lots of sun and are watered ever week or two, just enough to make the soil damp but not wet. i find they prefer slightly drier conditions. Also, if you are having bad luck, take some cuttings and put them into a glass of water - it will root and make baby rosemary for you to keep learning with!Helpful Reply

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Feb 24, 2015hmm, I wonder if you are being too kind to the root system. They are Mediterranean type plants. Can you describe how they look as they are dying?Helpful Reply

Mary on Feb 24, 2015I have a very large Rosemary plant planted in the soil by my back door and next to the house foundation. It gets at least 6 to 8 hours sun in the summer and it survives cold winters. I live in Kansas where it is really hot and really cold. It has survived deep snow and ice storms. Basically, I treat it like a weed. We have been going thru a drought over the last several years and sometimes I will throw a basin of dishwater on it when it looks dried out. At one point it was so huge it was taking over the sidewalk and I had to severely cut it back. The soil has never been tested and I know the soil is pretty poor where it is planted. I also grow Rosemary in those big galvanized wash tubs in the summer. I water these more because they are planted in with flower annuals. Sometimes they over winter here but mostly not when they are planted in containers.Helpful Reply

Dianna on Feb 24, 2015Rosemary does not like a lot of water. It is basically a desert plant. Mine will grow 4 feet tall, but one good period of rain and it will die.Helpful Reply
