Remove grout residue on tile

I had tiles installed in my bathroom. The worker that did the job, did a very unprofessional and rushed job. There is a lot of grout splattered on the tiles. Any ideas on how to remove it, without ruining the finish on the tiles?

  • You should pick an alkaline cleaner that is designed for cleaning tile, stone and grout. It is important to use only cleaning products specifically designed for safe and effective tile cleaning.
  • ...Are the tiles ceramic, porcelain....or ? I am sorry to hear that a person was that unprofessional and didnt practice " due diligence" when finishing the job. You can just scrape dried grout off of ceramic VERY carefully with a razor edge tool . Other types of stones require something else, as Kala PR mentioned in the previous comment.

Depending on how thick it is will determine how you approach the situation. If it is fairly thin then several cleanings with tile cleaner will do the trick. If it is somewhat thick use a plastic spatula to remove the majority of the offending residue down to the grout lines and then use the tile cleaner, may take several applications to get it as clean as you would like. Don't use any sort of metal tool unless you are an absolute expert at this sort of cleaning.
