After using gel stripper on cabinets, what should I wash them with?

Nancy Nesbitt on Mar 03, 2015I would check the directions on the stripper package that you use for what to wash them with afterward. You should have a clean dry surface to sand unless the package says otherwise.Helpful Reply

Cherie on Mar 03, 2015It's been so long since I've done this and I'm going from memory. But I remember I wiped mine down with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. Don't get them sopping wet but you do need to remove any trace of stripper or your stain will be very uneven. Light sanding is next , after they are completely dry and finish up with a tack cloth (which is just m.s. lightly applied to a rag!)Helpful Reply

Capt.Mike on Mar 04, 2015A wet rag with warm water will do well but it may raise the wood grain a bit and you may have to lightly sand.Helpful Reply

Kristine Snyder on Mar 04, 2015:) Thank you for the encouragement....I saw a glimmer of potential and progress today so think I may be ready for another round! I hear you about the "taking longer" now....so hopefully I will appreciate it that much longer too! LOLHelpful Reply
