Looking for creative ideas for metal baskets

I got two of these for $2 at Goodwill. I am curious if any one knows what they are used for. They are 12" long, 8" high (plus the handle) and 4" deep. The bottom is lined with perforated metal. I love them and would love to hear any ideas on using them creatively!

I am not sure if I missed the pictures... They can be used as storage if you attach the bottom to a wall or other surface. Lampshades... without really seeing them it is difficult to visualize.

They sound like containers that could be used for gifting from a mail-order gift basket company like Wine Country Gift Baskets. You can check out their website here: http://www.winecountrygiftbaskets.com/index.asp?aff=y . All of my favorite containers came from their gift baskets. I use them for storing frequently used items - especially in our bathroom. Really cute storage right on the counter. =o)

Maybe a tennis ball holder - as to what they were originally. You could use them as a hanging basket to hold potted plants or flowers since they have a nice shallow tray in the bottom.

They sound like maybe berry picking baskets ... after picking, they can be rinsed & water drains thru. Yiu could als put river rockes in tge bittom and force soring bulbs - but you wouds have to be sure tgy did not dry out

I think they would make a great magazine rack for in a bathroom. You could paint them and put some small felt protectors on back so they wouldn't scratch the wall. You could also hang them in a bathroom to hold your blow dryer and curling irons.

Looks like what they used to deliver milk bottles in--1960's.

I agree with Rosemary - milk bottle carrier from the 60's. We use ours to tote fresh produce out of the garden. Works great to set on grass and give it all a quick rinse off with the hose. Especially good with carrots and beets & potatoes! No dirt tracked in to utility sink!

Very cool baskets! How about storing rolled up colorful bath towels upright in them? Maybe use a rail/towel rack attached to the bottom of a cabinet or bookcase and attaching the handle over the rail? I am not sure of the size, but could you put two or three pots of herbs in them? These would be handy to move the plants around to the best places for sun. Add some paper-covered recycled tin cans and use this as a silverware caddy?

That is a great basket. Hand towels, flowers, fruit basket, magazines, lamp shade, bread basket, storage for pet toys...

maybe you could try to hang it on a kitchen wall and fold your dish towels and put them in it. I did that and I get many compliments.
