Brightening up a Dark Entry Way!

This room started out really dark..and by using black painted stairs & a navy blue wall color you would think that wouldnt change. By painting everything else bright white it really lightens this room up.
I'm totally obsessed with any kind of wood wall treatments right now so this wainscoting was a no brainer and the built in bench was perfect to hide all those shoes that we tripped over every day and never wore. We also built a wood bin to hold all of our hats, gloves & what nots, added some hooks for our keys, and 2 chalkboards that started out as picture frames to write notes and shopping lists on.
The floor is the workhorse in this room. We used 1 x 4 's nailed straight to the existing floor & painted them white with porch paint.
I love them because they hide most dirt & scratches even though they are white & when they need a pick me up, just a quick coat of paint does the trick!

We just stained our house a very dark brown stain with green trim. The front door is a prairie style divided light door also painted green. What would you do to lighten up the entry it's very dark.
