Quick & Easy Framed Single Letter Monogram

This single letter monogram was made with a thrift store frame, a wooden letter, some lace and paint for a pretty piece of wall art.
I spray painted a gold frame and wooden R with Krylon Pistachio.
The mat for this frame has a detachable metal insert that I also painted.
I used a lace place mat for backing. Any fabric would do, but I like the look of the lace. I folded it around the glass and tucked in the corners. I also added a sheet of card stock behind the glass to help hold the lace in place.
I spray painted the wooden letter and let it dry. Once dry, I sprayed it again and quickly used a paper towel to blotch it and wipe it away from the edges. I wanted to give it a more textured look. It's centered on the lace and hot glued in place.
I had everything I needed on hand for this, so the total cost for me was zero. But even if purchasing the items it would only cost a few dollars. A quick, easy, inexpensive piece of decor is my kind of project!

DF on Mar 04, 2015Thanks for a great idea! I'm thinking for me, one of my husbands grandmothers old hand made doily (in place of lace) or a part of her needlework thats not aged bad, would be a nice reminder of her to all the family!!
