I would like to put up fencing that will keep my small dogs from running into the street but have a fixed income. I need to feel sure that what I purchase will look good and hold up. I cannot use chain link and vinyl is too expensive. Any suggestions other than forget it, thanks.

I was in the same situation..I went to my local Home Depot and bought picket fence panel, a piece at a time till I had enough for what I needed. Good luck.

What you do is go out and get some pallets. Here where we live in Canada they are free. Then when you get them home you can take the pallets apart with a reciprocating saw going between the 2 by 4 rungs and the 1 by 4 attached by nails(use a metal cutting blade to cut the nails). Then the boards quite simply come off. You are left with good picket fence boards and some 2 by 4's to work with. Have Fun! Best of all, it's free! (it takes me about 4 minutes to tear down a pallet)

We had the same dilemma and solved it quite easily as it turns out. We went to Lowe's fencing dept. and found panels of plain wood picket fencing. We installed it with a gate of the same panel. The smallest dog could still get through so we went to Walmart and got some plastic chicken wire and stapled it to the fencing all the way to the ground. It is impossible to see and has kept our babies safe for years.
