This past Christmas I decided I would "make" gifts for my relatives using stencils created on my Silhouetter Cameo and Glass Etching Cream. The cream is expensive but it goes a long way. (Tip: put it back in the jar at the end instead of rinsing it off down the drain!).
What I also learned is the etching cream does NOT work on all glass.
First, it did not work on Pyrex brand casseroles. Imagine my disappointment after picking out all the letters from the stencil and then having to do it again.

The next fail was on double walled tumblers / beer glasses. I did check and they were definitely glass and from Italy. Again, I had to redo the stencil and pick out the design.
When I redid the stencil I decided to have the monogram be etched versus the area around it.
All the items turned out very nicely and my family was impressed. Check out the details and the other items I made at

Sharolyn T on Mar 07, 2015These are beautiful!! I love them all! Thank you SO much for posting this! I have been wanting to do this myself and just hadn't got to that point. Just knowing your 'fails' is a great help to us wanting to make these ourselves!
