90 year old door headboard made to fit both a Queen Size or Full Size Bed

Vintage Headboards
by Vintage Headboards
Our Customer had requested that the door headboard be made to accommodate both a queen size bed and a full size bed as they would be making that transition in the next 6 months.
After they selected one of our old doors we cut is down - making it look symmetrical when its turned on it's side. We then add side skirts to add some depth to the headboard which then in turn allows us to create a deeper crown molding supported shelf on top.
We carefully remove all of the loose paint on the front of the door and with a mild cleaner remove as much of the dirt possible before sealing the front to preserve the distressed appearance.
The final step is to paint the visible areas other than the front.

how secure is the door to the floor posts, how did you add the legs?

@M2s1c7j4 The legs are securely anchored to the back of the headboard. The way we build these they will work with any standard metal bed frame. We also include hardware to also attach them to the wall so that if you are putting decorations on the crown molding shelf that they will not fall when you hop into bed.
