@dee it really depends on the shape and size of the room and what furniture you want to put in there. If you post some pics of the room and furniture you may get more useful information. Is there a fireplace, where are the windows and doorways. What rooms adjoin the space. If you could post more information that would be helpful. Also you can use the search bar to find large living room furniture placement.
  • @dee ...I agree with Gail Salminen. I had a very long, large LR at one time, so I ' divided' it into ' zones, with furniture. We had a FP in the center of the room, so one end of the room was for a ' mom area' , where I had my desk, comfy reading chair, etc. The curved sofa was in the middle of the room, its back was towards the step up dining room, and had a ' screen ' behind the sofa, as well as a sofa table. The ( HUGE) tv was at the other side of the FP, and was easily viewed from the sofa and even my reading chair. I had an extra seating chair near the sofa , by the FP, it looked balanced and inviting . Photos of your room would be helpful, if you are able to provide them . :)

Pic of room with your existing furniture would be helpful. An area rug would help define, say, a conversation area. Was the room designed to be a living-dining area?

It is very hard to help without a pic or measurments or a pic of a drawing with a current layout. What is the end result you are looking for? One sentence is not a description. Please give more info for really great advice.

Zoning sounds good to me. Woman's Day Magazine April 2015 shows it nicely.
