This is What Happened When We Saw Lindsay Eidahl's Crate Post:

My daughter was bemoaning our lack of space - yarn was everywhere - we called it yarnia for our cat. One morning I saw Lindsay's post and showed it to DD. She instantly saw the potential. When her fiancé arrived for a visit, they took on the project and it is beautiful! (Here's is Lindsey's post: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft-room/craft-supply-storage/wood-crates-become-craft-station-organization-6843471)
Direct from Home Depot
Drying after spray paint
Waiting for yarn....
This is yarnia!
(The closet is filled too...)
Sigh...no more room....
The next step? More crates in every conceivable space. She needs to open a store!

Another idea I saw for storing yarn, especially if you don't have the time or patience to do the painting, is to use those closet organizers that hang from the rod. They are lightweight fabric and cardboard with square cubbies for sweaters etc. Or you can use the shoe ones but they don't hold as much as the square ones. Its plenty sturdy since yarns are lightweight too. You would have to have some closet space to use them. But I really like the crate idea since they are sturdy, can go inside or out of a closet and can be added to with multiple uses. Just thought I would share another idea for storing yarn. :-)
