How to remove dried embedded duct tape residue from wood floor

We removed the rug in our living room and there is a border of crusted embedded residue where it had been duct taped. We've tried everything to get it off. We don't want to do anything too drastic or it will show as a different color. Any suggestions?

  • Try using a hair dryer to help heat the backing up

@SLS Construction & Building Solutions LLC Thanks, we did that but it was unsuccessful. I have had a bit of luck with a window scraper but very tedious and this tape edges the whole room! Yikes

I had some success with Goof Off and fine steel wool. On places the woid was lighter I used Old English Scratch Cover s nd fine steel wool. It took seversl coats, but it turned out to be a clise msrch. My floors were pretty dark.

Yes I would try goo gone also....I have had great success often. Just let it set a while before trying to work on it.let it soften the tape well.
