Nita on Mar 23, 2015Home Depot sells shade canopies , and you can put netting like they use in plant nursery's and pull back when the sun is not on your porch.Helpful Reply

Becky H on Mar 23, 2015Sam's, Home Depot and Lowe's, as well as many on the internet carry solar shades, designed to reduce heat and offer filtered light. They are outdoor shades, and this may be what you're looking for.Helpful Reply

MillyMolly on Mar 23, 2015I have those solar shades on my west facing windows. They can be rolled up and down and do block the heat well and filter light. The only problem I have had with them is that they have plastic fittings and the sun can crack those after awhile.Helpful Reply

Jessica on Mar 23, 2015All of the ideas listed above are great. you could also do some upcycling and use a sheet. I know that sounds silly, but you could paint it or decorate it with a pretty design and then you could even turn it into a roman shade with strings on the sides or something and it would be super cheap to make.Helpful Reply

JudithAnn on Mar 28, 2015I hung up white shower curtains with shower hangers on brass rods. I also used brass hooks to hold the rods. When the sun wasn't shining we pulled them back with green ties. Made it look like a roomHelpful Reply
