Looking for suggestion(s) of color for this kitchen

Christina on Mar 24, 2015I think you really need to get a lot of blue and green paint chips and hold them against the counter. Computer screens don't always show true colors. I think pale dusty blue would look good if my screen is showing true. Butter yellow, rust, peach may also work. I don't think greens will work.Helpful Reply

Carolyn on Mar 24, 2015behr paint site has a great paint tool called 'color smart' you can try on colors in similar rooms for an outlook. Have you thought about an assent wall? I went with eco green from behr paint which is a deep sage green and black gingham curtains to bring out black in counter. The color on the site looks so bad you have to try a sample. http://www.behr.com/consumer/colors/paint?color=PPU8-5#paintHelpful Reply

Susan Sease on Mar 24, 2015I have a very similar granite and will be painting my cabinets soon but I painted the walls Chelsea Grey by Benjamin Moore. It picks up the darker flecks in the countertops, we love it!Helpful Reply

Rjack on Mar 24, 2015Thanks all. I like Sherwin Williams paint. They have an online 'color smart' tool also. I'll try that. With the openness of this floor plan its a little difficult to determine where to stop the new color. At least with paint its easy to fix.Helpful Reply

Dee on Mar 24, 2015I love gray, but it is a hard color to work with because of undertones. They can be blue, green, purple and brown. Get some color samples and put them on the walls in your house so you can see the true color. I actually went through 12 samples of gray before I found the one I liked for a bathroom. Lighting makes a HUGE difference.Helpful Reply

Moxie on Mar 25, 2015Congrats on the new home! Always fun to make it yours. Nice kitchen...somehow I feel like it needs textures to give the space depth along with color. If it were mine I would do the the grey beach type planking on the short wall behind the table and maybe also at the breakfast bar.Helpful Reply

Alisa on Mar 26, 2015I love blues with beiges, they really compliment each other. I am partial to royal blue but Delft blue shades would also be wonderful. I must say that is the blandest kitchen ever!Helpful Reply

Julie Pearson on Apr 01, 2015I would go with a very pale gray that has a blue undertone. Then when you paint your cabinets you could go with a darker shade of the same color. Stainless also has a gray undertone in some lights which would complement that choice of gray. If you get a lot on sun the gray will look almost white. I am planning to paint my cabinets like this and I have porcelain tile that is a beige/cream with light gray swirls. Good Luck.Helpful Reply

Beth H. Makemeprettyagain.blogspot on Dec 10, 2015First thing that jumps at me is the bar area with the stools. Maybe clad that in reclaimed wood? See the photos for what I mean. Think about maybe doing some sort of wood treatment for the dining area. Maybe some beams? Or maybe paint the wainscot a charcoal gray or black and do a bright white for the wall,,,or vice versa. Kitchen cabinets could get a hardware update to something a bit more modern. Under that clock bring in something to go against the wall,,,either a buffet w/some color, a coffee bar island or maybe something topped w/some cool butcher block wood. Great space!Helpful Reply

Rjack on Dec 11, 2015I need to update the photos. These were taken by seller just prior to our purchase. I like the idea of the wood on bar. We thought of that but just haven't done anything yet. This is actually my daughters house & she is on a tighter budget than I would be. Someone suggested a dark blue for walls. Funny she mentioned that because we did paint the front room a dark Sherwin Williams blue. And I was thinking we might use that same color in the breakfast area on the wainscoting. All good ideas. Thanks.Helpful Reply

Leslie on Dec 12, 2015I would change out the lights also, but would rethink the track lighting. There are so many pretty lighting options, pls look at some before u do anything. The light over your dining room table needs to be lowered.Helpful Reply

Leslie on Dec 17, 2015I understand your decisions now on the kitchen lighting. Without sounding like a know it all I think you will regret putting a fan over a dining room table. We have one in our family room and when we eat in front of the tv I have to turn the fan off because it makes your food cold really fast......and our family room is pretty good size, 26'x17'. Good luck with what ever you choose to do though!Helpful Reply
