Yardstick Picture Frames

When I stumbled upon a barrel of vintage yardsticks at a junk shop. I knew I could use them for something.......Like the picture frames.
With minimal skills, and about half an hour, I churned out a couple of these charming picture frames.
I used a plastic miter box to cut my yardsticks at 45 degree angles. The are really soft and cut by hand pretty easily.
I smoothed out the cut edges with a little rub of 220 grit sandpaper.
Then I glued them around an Ikea Ribba picture frame. Starting with the side pieces.
Just a bead of Elmer's Wood Glue....and blue painters tape to hold the yardstick pieces in place 'till they dried. Maybe about half an hour.
Once the sides pieces were firmly dried, I then glued on the top pieces with my beautiful 45 degree angles.
I filled them with old flashcards and postcards....but I'm pretty certain that class pictures would look amazing.
