What to do?

Barbara Thomas on Mar 30, 2015Looks like a dark Maple wood. If you like a wood finish then stain it to the color you want. The scratch can be fixed with a wood crayon. Just depends on your taste as to whether you paint or stain.Helpful Reply

Becky Kleibrink on Mar 30, 2015I always hate to see beautiful wood painted. I know it is more work but I would agree with Barbara Thomas, fix the scratch with a wood crayon, stain if needed, & then a good coat of poly to give it a great shine.Helpful Reply

Priscilla G on Mar 30, 2015Agree, I think its a dark Maple. Why not clean it real good, with maybe a soft sanding and re-stain with a poly finish. Scratch will work out with the wood crayon.Helpful Reply

Jenifermacfarland on Mar 30, 2015I love beautiful woods, but maple is not my favorite. Will you be using it for a bed or are you looking for a new use? Love what lynda posted! Use pinterest to help you decide what to do...Helpful Reply

L. A. Dey on Mar 30, 2015I vote Maple too. If you don't need it for a bed you could always turn it into a beautiful bench. That's what I'll be doing with my Eastlake bed.Helpful Reply

Kim Kilmer on Mar 30, 2015Would love to get my hands on a find like this. My husband said he will make me a bench from an old headboard if I can find one for free!Helpful Reply

Lynda on Mar 31, 2015@Kim Kilmer There is a site call freecycle , you can see if there is a local one for you. it's crazy some of the things you can find. You can check to see what people are offering or you can post something you want. I posted for some patio bricks (only needed a few) and got 5x what I really needed, but will find a use for.Helpful Reply
