I have a rug that was damaged by water. When it dried, spots were left. I thought maybe I could paint it to use on my porch, ideas?
Spots can be seen.
There is a fabric trim.

I always use "Scrubbing Bubbles" for any furniture or carpet stain--especially in my car. Not only does it leave no residue, but it will not bleach the fabric.

Please note that a Sisal rug is made up of natural fibers and once wet, leaves a "stain". It's more of a discoloration than a stain per se, and cannot be removed. With that being said, anyone else have any ideas? I'm also an owner of a sisal that got wet and I'm also at a loss of what to do! Thanks in advance!

Sisal can easily be painted! I would roll on a coat of flat latex paint- red maybe, let it dry for a full 48 hours to avoid bleed then stencil a big design- flowers or stripes, then a quick 2 coats of spray urethane- gorgeous indoors or out & super durable& easy to clean!

I used a craft apple outdoor paint to re-do some of the paint trim. What I forgot to do is add a clear protector. It will help hid the stains. However, mine was small trims, so buying large outdoor paint of latex paint and a roller to paint it all, or add a motif.

I spray painted my rug (it's outside)over a year ago with a can of paint and primer in one and it's still perfect.

I also wanted to share that I spray painted a horribly faded patio umbrella that still cranked like new. It has been 4 years and it's still wonderful!

I bought a can of brick red spray paint (I think I did buy a second can) that said it was good to use on plastics and wood, metal (just about everything. KRYLON brand. I opened the umbrella in the yard on its side and sprayed the outside of it. When it dried I could see spots that were a bit uneven and I sprayed again on those areas. After top was fully dry (I gave it an hour) I flipped it over, still wide open, and gave the underside a coat. It's now at my daughters house and she and her family are enjoying it. No cracks, no flaking, no fading that we can tell and best of all the cranking open and close have not be affected. that was my only concern that the umbrella wouldn't fild nicely closed. It's fine! I started with a solid red cover when I bought it. If you have a print of any kind I would suggest a grey primer first unless you're going light, get white primer. Then use your colored spray paint. Just be sure to start with light even sprays. Be patient. Good luck
