Harry Potter Mandrake Craft

****This is a Halloween decoration!!****
I'm a huge geek and my love for Harry Potter hasn't found its limit yet. I was doing a hefty bit of cleaning and was a bit amused at the sheer number of dolls my girls had amassed. As I was sitting there surrounded by dolls that didn't get played with, the mandrakes from Harry Potter popped into my head and a new craft was born. If you don't know what a mandrake looks like, here's one from the movie followed by my craft.
To make a mandrake, you'll need a clay pot, an old baby doll, black and brown spray paint, a black sharpie, some leaves, dirt, and a knife.
I started by using the black spray paint on the pot. I wanted it to look dingy, so didn't go for full coverage.
I then used the brown spray paint on the doll. After it was dry, I added in some squiggles with the sharpie to help take away the cuteness. Mandrakes are ugly and creepy, remember?
I lightly sprayed the leaves so that they were dingy but still had the color poking through. When everything is dry, take your knife and poke a hole in the top of the doll's head. Place the leaves in it.
Put dirt in your pot and plant your mandrake!
I'm imagining a whole garden of mandrakes for Halloween. The girls didn't miss this doll--they won't miss more, right?? ;)
