My Trash Find I Secretly Returned to the Owners Totally Repurposed!

I couldn't resist this little rolling microwave cart when I saw it in my neighbor's trash pile. It was a bit heavy for me to grab on my morning walk. I quickly made my way home and called in the troops to help. Well, I really just asked my husband if he would go pick it up for me. He was able to get it never to be noticed.
This little laminated beauty sat in my sunroom while I contemplated what to do with it. I made the decision that a simple white nightstand would be it's new purpose in life.
You really can't sand down laminate so I wiped it down with a bonding liquid first. After waiting a few minutes I applied a good primer, let that dry, lightly sanded, and applied my semigloss paint.
I added craft paper to the doors for some contrast and changed out the wheels to wood legs. After brushing on a coat of decoupage glue over the craft paper, I added the 49 cent wooden door knobs.

We returned this cutie back to the original owner - well hubby left it at their front door, rang their doorbell, and ran like crazy! It was really fun and funny to watch. I'll never know if they liked it but I sure enjoyed working on it!

That is so sweet. It's like paying it forward. I can't imagine anyone not being touched enough to keep it or at least find a good home for it.
