DIY Plank Top Dresser

Today I am sharing how we added a DIY Plank Top to a dresser.
First let me give you a small back story on the dresser.

I’m pretty sure that I have complained mentioned before that it’s cold here in southern PA most of the year. And on top of that, it is super windy making it feel even colder. This means I need a lot of sweaters. I am a warm weather girl, so it pains me that I actually needed to go out and buy a dresser just to hold all the sweaters that I now own, but sadly I did. When I thought about what I wanted for this room, I had visions of some big chippy antique bit of goodness. Unfortunately, around here those kinds of things don’t come cheap and I was unable to find one that I loved enough to part with that much money for. And I am still looking. So… I had the genius idea to pick up this inexpensive Ikea dresser to use “temporarily”.
It’s not a bad dresser for the price, but it’s pretty ugly as-is so something needed to be done to spruce it up. I mean, you can’t very well stick it in a room looking like that!

Right now plank top furniture is pretty popular and adding it to an existing piece is pretty simple so that’s what we did.
