I felt like I was on the Ellen Degeneres Furniture Design Challenge! I transformed an ordinary IKEA Rast chest into an industrial beauty....well, in my opinion anyway. Let me show you how I did it! Ready?

First, I am transforming our formal dining room into a homework room. So, I wanted it to function for both the kiddos. I knew that I wanted it to also fit under a counter area that we will built. It had to have castors as well. And a tray on top for them to grab routinely used supplies.
Flat trim was added to each drawer to create depth. The flat trim was also used on the sides of the chest. A 1x4 was added to the bottom front to level off the indented space of the original design.
Paint sticks from Menards were stained and applied to each drawer front and to the sides of the chest.
A tray was built for the top to store everyday homework items.
Gorgeous Hickory Hardware was applied to the fronts of the drawers.
I love how it turned out. It totally inspired me to be using 10 cent paint sticks more often! Hickory Hardware has a contest/challenge going on here: https://www.facebook.com/hickoryhardware/app_535312783221815
