Decorating a little boys domain on the fly and on the cheap with Chef Darcy of Silver Spoon Cakes in Salt Lake City.
The Route 66 sign was built from old wood scraps. Bolts and hinges were painted and rusted with the iron paint from Modern Masters Metal Effects Paints
Harsh hot lime green was trouble for this amazing little boy.
Old, out of date and a dizzyingly awful color.
I painted the upper walls with a denim paint technique. You can find lots of "How To's" on Google and Pinterest.
The bright white wainscotting makes the room look bigger and is easy to clean little boys grubby fingerprints.
Texas loves old tin toys. Antique cars, trucks and airplanes. So we designed the room around found and gathered treasures. Some of these cool things were salvaged from the hundred plus year old basement, so no costs were incurred.
I played with Modern Masters Metal Effects Paints for all the rust and tumble, making a a true to size licence plate with his name and date of birth.
The old dresser was dressed in my custom red, white and blue chalk paint.
I sketched the moon and quote on the side of the closet wall. Ta Da! Chris aka Monkey found it.
The old replica Airmail postage stamp shelf was built from old leftover wood and chalk paint. Texas loves his old tin police car showcased.
Using an old cardboard container and old brass lamp parts, I built Texas an replica Texaco oil can lamp with an Edison lightbulb.
