Cleaning hanging drapes

Does anyone have an idea of how to clean drapes without taking them down? My mother has custom drapes with valences and I don't want to take them down as I wouldn't know how to put them back up again. They are very dusty and I would like to at least get the dust off them.

I actually pull them closed and vacuum them with the dusting attachment. I have also taken them down and put them in the dryer on air fluff. This removes the dust. You can also clean them with a Swiffer duster as it collects all the dust on them.

By the way, I have done the above for years and never had any problems and always have clean drapes, valances, etc.

yes, you can use a steamer on them. Gives them some freshness and a newer look.
