Old Picture to CHALKBOARD for $1 in 1 Minute- NO PAINT!

If you've ever wondered what to do with that favorite old picture frame you have lying around (or any picture frame, for that matter) then wonder no more. I had a gorgeous old picture that was given to me by a friend. Actually, it was the frame that I loved, not so much the picture in it. However, I didn't want to permanently destroy the picture or alter the frame. I wanted to enjoy it more without changing it too much.
So after putting it aside for a long time, I finally got the idea to make it a chalkboard, without using any paint! It's a very temporary kind of chalkboard that can be changed or undone at any time. All I did was remove the back...
and insert one little thing that cost less than $1. I bought and cut to size a piece of- get ready- poster board! I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Worked like a charm. I tested for eras ability (if that's a word) and yep, that worked, too.
I absolutely love how it turned out. It looks exactly like chalkboard paint, but without the trouble and the permanent nature of it. Super easy and cheap DIY with great results...my kind of project! To see the nifty little trick I used to open the back of the antique frame, visit the blog. Full details there, including pictures of the "eraser" test. Hope to see you there!

@Lynn @ Riggstown Road what is ready poster board and where do you get it? This is a great idea and would love to do it. I know of chalk board paint but not ready poster board

@Jan Actually it's just plain black poster board from the school supply section at Walmart. I just meant "get ready" as in "get ready to see how simple this is!" Sorry for the confusion. ;) Just frame the poster board and it's ready to use. Easiest chalkboard ever. Let me know when you make one!
