Do you mean carpenter bees? If so, the ones that fly around and try to bully you out of the area are harmless. The males are the guards. Look for a white spot between the eyes. They lack a stinger and rely solely on intimidation. The females can sting but rarely (very, very rarely) do, as in if you pick her up or squish her. They are fantastic pollinators. That being said, they do damage wood. If you want to put a stop to their drilling just dab some wood putty in her hole and paint any exposed wood, they go find a new place to burrow. A good concentration of dish soap and water on a wasp nest will suffocate the wasps. Locate the nest and wait till after dark when they're all on the nest and calm. Give them a good dousing and knock the nest down after they've fallen.
