DIY outdoor new tabletop
I'd like to redo myself with a slab of granite if cost effective or some type of tile mosaic?
Any suggestions? Thanks

Wanda Arganbright on Apr 10, 2015This table top would not have bowed if the person who made it had "reversed" the rings on every other board. Tree rings up on one and down on the next. And then use "biscuits" to connect the boards together. Good woodworkers know this rule. If you want to replace it with another wood table top, research this online.Helpful Reply

Cass on Apr 11, 2015Your tabletop has cupped because the top is drier than the bottom. A remedy I have used - turn the table over on a level part of your lawn. Add some weight such as brick block or even heavy rocks along the high part of the convex side along the whole length. Leave overnight to allow dew moisture from the grass to seep into the dry wood which will slowly swell. Hopefully with the gentle weight plus moisture the top will flatten. It may take several evenings to achieve a moisture equilibrium. If successful consider an appropriate outdoor finish but make sure to put it on both sides. Also think about reducing any direct sunlight which contributes to drying the top surface. An inexpensive fix to try that might work for you.Helpful Reply
