Funky Vintage Suitcase Makeover

I found this funky green suitcase on the curb and knew it more potential than the sad state it was in.
The inside was in great shape and surprisingly, it wasn't smelly which is as a plus.
I've been wanting to paint something with a grain sack look and thought this was the perfect candidate.
I spray painted it entirely in white. Once dry, I frog taped off sections to paint the stripes and used a navy acrylic paint and applied with an art brush. Once that dried, I took a sanding block and gently sanded the stripes to make them look worn. Last, I aged the whole piece with dark wax.
The result is darling and moves all over when I feel like a vignette change or need a different display setup.
This was such an easy project with a huge impact. I'll never look at an old funky suitcase the same again.

Nancy Gaines on Apr 14, 2015Your suitcase turned out awesome, Tommie, really nice job! ♡ I did one a couple of months ago (see photo) and it was so much fun! I've got about a half a dozen that I'll be working on over the spring and summer. They are kind of addicting, don't you think? ;)
