Gail Salminen on Apr 17, 2015@Donna I am assuming you are wanting ideas to make planters out of tires. There are several examples on this site http://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=tire%20planters If the link doesn't work just use the search bar at the top of the page and plug in tire planters. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Carmen on Apr 17, 2015This site and over the internet there are tons of ideas on how to turn tires into planters. I'm from Puerto Rico and at one time they were super popular around country yards. Can use with or without the rim; usually one of the rims is used as a "plant"stand". Sometimes rim is left on one side, and tire is turned inside out. Other ideas are to cut the entire edge off, and it looks like a normal large round planter, or cut edge into shapes, like a leaf, scalloped, use your imagination. As a norm, place strong landscape cloth to keep soil inside, and plant as you normally do. I saw on a gardening site (lost the link ) that tires were used to plant potatoes using hay, and as the plant grew a new tire was stacked, and hay added. If you live in a subdivision with an HOA, you might want o make sure ther is no objection to using a tire planter.Helpful Reply

Sandy on Apr 18, 2015A friend of mine gave me 3 tires from an old golf cart. I went to holly hobby and got neon bright paints and colored them. I put two on the ground and one on the middle on top. I put bright flowers in each tire. I would post a pic but I have a new computer and didn't put them in my files yet. I got it from pinterest.Helpful Reply
