Has anyone painted cushions for your patio furniture?

I would like to try painting the cushions on my patio furniture. The cushions are in good shape but they are so faded.
I was wondering if anyone has done this and what tips they might have for me..ex. what type paint and did they use any kind of sealant afterwords?

I am getting ready to try this. The information that I have found is to use a good quality spray paint, but you Must brush the cushion between coats of paint. And only do a light coat of paint each time. They said that the brushing allows the cushion or whatever soft thing that you are painting to feel soft and not have that hard, rigid feeling of being painted. Whether or not it will work..I still have to find out. I hope this helps maybe a little.

Thank you. I did read about the paint but didn't hear about the brushing which sounds sensible to me. Good luck with your project and I'll try to remember to post pictures of mine if it comes out at least reasonable well.

Thank you Cindy. I've heard of gesso also. I plan on going out this weekend and look at paints.

I use floral spray paint.... it stays soft, not crunchy or brittle, like regular spray paint or gesso will do, and there is no in between brushing....gesso will be stiff and will crack if you sit on it and it is water soluble, so you will need to bring your cushions in when it rains or you will come out and find your old fabric peeking through again... floral spray paint comes in a lot of different colors....I painted my expensive honeycomb window treatments and they turned out beautiful... hope this helps.... enjoy your project :)

I have painted all sorts of upholstery...from patio cushions, to inside upholstered chairs, loveseats, couches! I have used just regular latex paint! It may be a little stiff but I have not had it crack at all! In fact when the cushions are dirty, just wipe off and/or repaint! I have been very happy with the outcome!
