Ashley Freeman on Apr 19, 2015Easy fix Lowes or Home Depot has tub and tile paint. It is enamel and stinks a lot so use good ventilation and follow directions. Cost is about $15 and it will look like new when you are done.Helpful Reply

Ashley Freeman on Apr 19, 2015No this is enamel and is only for the tub or for ceramic tile. The stuff they use in mobile homes for the tub surround is usually a type of laminated board and doesn't hold up very well to the water. They sell the same sort of stuff if you need to replace it at the hardware it would be in by the paneling. They sell stuff now days that even looks like real tile. You could probably paint this with some type of latex or oil based but it looks like it is already suffering the effects of age and if you do it will just do the same thing and chip and peel. You could replace it with green board which is drywall that is water resistant but you have to know what you are doing because the greenboard will be thicker than what you have and it may not work in the space with the thickness. You can then do whatever to the greenboard. You could replace it with cement board and then tile but you have to make sure your floor could handle the added weight.Helpful Reply

D & K on Apr 19, 2015Another option....contact a local boat dealer and ask them if they have someone that does fiberglass repair. A neighbor of mine works for a boat dealer and during the off season he does exactly the type of repairs you seek. Fiberglass has a final coating that's not much different than paint. It's called gel coat and it's simply a polyester resin coating. I've seen him work and his finished product. It's amazing an actually pretty simple. Most all of his projects take less than a day.Helpful Reply

Judy H. on Apr 19, 2015We just redid our master bath and rather than replace the shower pan, I used a zillion things and the kicker that did it was Bartender's Friend!!!!! I wet down the surface of the pan, sprinkled a good amount of the cleaner, rubbed it in with a brush I use for this type of cleaning, and it did a wonderful job. Our home is 38 years old, too!!!! Good luckHelpful Reply
