How can I add color and interest to my patio?

We have a nice patio area but it has two sides that are cinder block walls. Our outdoor furniture is dark brown and our outdoor dining set is brown and tan. I have 2 white wicker rockers also. But it is not inviting at all? What could I do to make it more colorful and inviting?

If you are not up to painting some type of mural on your walls,a cabana stripe would jazz up your walls in the colors you like.coral ,yellow, and a light green is a pretty combination .then pick one or two of those colors for pillows tablecloths and accessories etc.some type of outdoor flooring would also add to your space.dont forget some nice palm plants and some lighting

@Sharon Thomas you could add interest by painting a trellis/lattice and attaching to the wall. Plant a quick growing plant such as morning glories or sweet peas to grow up the structure. You can also add interest by using coloured throw cushions on you patio furniture and the paint some clay pots to coordinate and put colourful plants in them. I like to put the inexpensive basket plants because they fill the pot quickly. Use some plants that trail. You could also hang some flower boxes to the wall and put flowers and trailing plants in them.

I was thinking to Definitely paint those ugly cinder blocks! And, having some sort of ivy or design painted on them. I like @Gail Salminen's idea of painting a trellis/lattice!!! (She is a fellow Canadian, too!!)

@ @Gail Salminen I'll make you more jealous. I'm flying to LA this weekend with my friend that I've known since we were 2-1/2 yrs. old (yes-just 20 yrs ago!! l.o.l.) She's a recent widow, so has decided to join me on a 5 day "Coastal Cruise" and we have one day at sea, then a whole day in San Francisco, another day at sea, then a whole day in Victoria, then we go to sleep....and wake up back in Vancouver!!! None of my neighbours are gardeners, so I usually 'lose' a few plants when I go away, because no one waters anything for me (we don't have 'that' kind of neighbourhood!!)
