Remodeling our kitchen and am stumped on a backsplash for the stove area because it's so large. We plan on putting a wall mounted range hood. There will be no cabinets.

@Leann Stuart that is a large area indeed. Saw a couple of posts on here about peel and stick tiles that look pretty good and easy to do. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/backsplashes/tiling-cheat-amazing-tiling-effects-using-self-adhesive-wall-tiles-2392277 http://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-backsplash-peel-stick-diy-4078436 They both look easy to clean if in a kitchen. Not sure if your post of the hood you want to install includes the wood surround as well. If it does you would have to choose a complimentary colour of tile to go with it, if not then either of these would go with the hood. Good luck.

Lowe's hardware has the faux ceiling tiles they come in a varitiy of metalic finishes.They look great.

we did a sheet of stainless steel, hubby put a shelf above it to put spices, oil and vinegar containers etc. love how easy it is to clean.
