Planer recommendations

I'm just getting into woodworking, primarily restoring furniture. Would a handheld planer or table planer be better for this?

Handhelds are nice for smaller pieces, making things even, or adjusting fits. I use my dewalt table planer for furniture construction and milling pieces of lumber. If your restorAtion works requires new pieces of wood like side panels or table tops, get a table top. If your restoration is fixing cracks and realigning joints - a handheld may be better.

A hand-held planer would better for projects that you cant lay flat and run thru a table planer.Good luck and happy restoring.

If you are using any rough lumber, you will definately need a planer. A hand-held planer is used for smaller jobs.
