Painting countertops

Fran on Apr 26, 2015I can't swear to the countertop, but I just used a PPG product, Brakethrough on the back splash, and it looks very good. We needed a simple and quick fix to the backsplash between the countertop and the upper kitchen cabinets. The former owners put up sheets of formica-type laminate in an old butcher block pattern. It took three coats and I used the same color as the wall paint in the kitchen. It is a small kitchen, so that wasn't a problem. PPG recommended rolling it on, so that's what I did. It looks good. You may want to check with PPG about whether you can prepare food on it. Also, we cleaned the roller/brushes with water and soap. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Rosanne Cavin-dixon on Apr 27, 2015I went to Lowe's for the proper paint, the catch is it needs 4 weeks to dry, but I did it and it is beautiful and I now have it to match the other cabinet tops!Helpful Reply
