I'm looking for a new iron that will handle old cotton tablecloths.

My iron of many years finally died and I'm having trouble finding an iron that can handle old heavy cotton linens. I bought a sunbeam as a replacement, used it once and took it back to target. It just didn't get hot enough. Any suggestions?

Maybe it's not the iron. Spray linens with distilled water, then iron.

Irons now are much lighter than theyused to be which I find is a problem with old vintage textiles like tablecloths. Buy the heaviest high level steam iron you can find, and they are not cheap.
