How to cut making a straight line

Darla on Apr 27, 2015Do you mean you want to cut the leg shorter? You could do that with a hand saw, but you might need to pad a vise or clamp to hold it.Helpful Reply

Meyndert Borrie Bornman on Apr 27, 2015You want to cut it down the length to give you two halves to use on each side of a unit where the kick plate is to look like feet? I would think that if you take the bottom screw in extension out and look into the hole you will see the top bolt head embedded there. you have to remove that bold to do the cut. If/when you get it out screw the bottom extension back with glue on the thread and let it dry. Then find a thick edge plastic pipe where the leg snugly fit into. Get a Handy machinist to cut the top !/2 a slot down the middle down to a thick bottom piece fitted for the leg to rest on. Use a good handsaw an cut down the slot to the bottom of the slot where the leg end. you have 2x 1/2 legs.Helpful Reply

Marilynn Gillespie on Apr 27, 2015Just cut a board a little taller than the height that you need. Drill a hole just big enough to fit a pencil through. Either have someone hold the board while you turn the leg or nail the board to something solid and turn the leg. The mark should show up all around the leg. Set the leg on your chop saw with the mark centered on the bottom and the mark on top of the leg centered on the blade and pull the saw down. Voila! One shortened leg. It will look great, nice legs!Helpful Reply

Kathy Meador Wells on Apr 28, 2015Are you wanting to cut the screw off? If so you will need to have a special blade on whatever saw you will use. Are you wanting to cut the piece in half to have mirror pieces? If so the screw will have to come out completely . I would suggest ripping it on a table saw. I would also recommend to let someone help you out that knows how to use a table saw.Helpful Reply

Sharyn Diaz on Apr 28, 2015If you want to remove the screw use a pliers to grip and unscrew it. Plates are available to attach these type of legs to the bottom of chests and stools so you can attach them to the cabinet bottom overhang where I believe you want to place them. Or attach them to a small block of wood and glue (E6000 is a good one) in place.Helpful Reply

Judy Zedalis on Apr 28, 2015use a rubber band to mark where you to cut or scotch tape. If you ed it to stand up to mark it, use tape and a laser level to get it straight.Helpful Reply

Meyndert Borrie Bornman on May 04, 2015Use under the cabinets mean nothing, looking at the size it is obvious that 1/2 will come out the front because the kick plate is only 40 to 50 mm deep, that centre round is 90 to 100mm. I do what she want to do on a monthly basis with legs from under the work surface to the floor or only in front of the kick plate. To cut it shorter is a no brainer, mark the distance and cut it. She most probably came right as she do not answer us, it means she do not need help anymore.Helpful Reply

Suellen Hintz on Jul 11, 2016Have a professional do this cut for you. You need a saw with a fence. A cabinet shop, a builder, etc., could do this, as well as a hobbyist woodworker. They would probably want to do their own measurements.Helpful Reply
