How to clean up my oak kitchen cabinets

I would like to add new hardware and clean my cabinets. Any ideas of on how to refinish the spots and not tear everything down?

@Grammysue you might have to provide a little more info. What are the cabinets made of? If wood what type and colour. If possible a pic might help yield more useful information.

My Aunt always used vinegar to clean hers and the put lemon oil. I like Murphy's Oil Soap to clean wood.
