I would like to add new hardware and clean my cabinets. Any ideas of on how to refinish the spots and not tear everything down?

@Grammysue you might have to provide a little more info. What are the cabinets made of? If wood what type and colour. If possible a pic might help yield more useful information.

@Gail Salminen if I had read your heading more closely I would have seen that they were wood cabinets - Juju's comment made me realize that LOL I have used murphy's soap to clean mine in the past and it worked quite well - just may take a few passes to get it cleaned depending on how much has built up. Amazing how skin oils build up on wood. If your hardware is old, you may have to take one to the store to measure for the hole widths. I have several pieces that have the holes too far apart to fit the new hardware available. I was able to find some that was wide enough to hide the old holes. Good luck and let us know how it all works out.

Clean first, then show pictures. As they say, pictures are worth a thousand words. AND will probably generate more responses.

My Aunt always used vinegar to clean hers and the put lemon oil. I like Murphy's Oil Soap to clean wood.
