Mary on Apr 28, 2015It is polk salad. Pick the leaves while it's young, rinse in vinegar water and melt them in butter. It tastes better than spinach. It's a good detoxer, pulls out all your impurities.Helpful Reply

Patty on Apr 28, 2015I hit it with a double whammy.....I fix poke stalk & then poke salad. Both are fine to eat. The stalk gets woody if it gets too big. I just measure by my pinky finger. I cut in half, roll in cornmeal & flour like you would green tomatoes... Salad..delicious with bacon, bacon, bacon. I always leave some to flower & develop berries (very poisonous once the berries come on). Although I do have a friend that fixes poke berry wine. She says it's very good for arthritis & No, you don't drink it like port or sherry....Helpful Reply

Mary on Apr 29, 2015It's very tasty, I like it better than spinach. When it get's large and the green berries start to turn purple be sure to boil it in some water but not too much water. Don't throw away the water ! dilute the water some and you can drink the water as a natural blood thinnerHelpful Reply
