I have a 10 panel double entry front doors in need of a makeover....any suggestions?

Metal entry doors can be a real problem, but easy to remedy. I have sanded them with a 220 grit and made sure there was no dust residue. I like to paint door surfaces with a fine nap roller. This give the surface a slight texture which is easier to clean. If the doors are originally painted with an oil base, sanding is a good first step. I prime my metal doors before painting. Sanding after the primer is dry makes for a smoother surface.

Many professionals will tell us they need to be spray painted with an airless paint machine. I have had luck with my little ole roller.

I roll my paint in several directions making sure there are no roller marks. Do this quickly. Your paint will 'track' if it becomes tacky and you will have a mess.

My first coat is very thin. Dry, Sand in between each coat. Because of my love of the antique, I wash the now painted and dry doors with an antiquing glaze and wipe off. I leave just enough in the grooves to make them an accent.

I always poly my doors with several coats of satin matt polycoat, sanding lightly between coats.

A faux finish using a mocha glaze to create a wood look or a stone look, ....endless ideas. All with paint and wipe on poly. Easy care and cleanup too. Have fun.

Repaint and change door furniture or change colour. Add mirror tiles or Metallic tiles or Add Grills etc.
