What about a concrete curb. It would be fairly easy to do. We did them around our island and a portion of our driveway. Here's the link for what we did, http://thechirpingfrog.blogspot.com/2015/02/my-landscaping-adventures-2.html

I just did mine with railroad ties,, I then drilled holes in them and placed solar lights staggered on both sides,, a few small growing perennials on the sides and it turned out great. Good luck

A neighbor of mine used logs to line his driveway. He bored out large holes and fills them with flowers. Looks really cool.

You want your eye to go to your beautiful house, so I wouldn't choose something too big or your eye will go to that instead. Maybe a few medium sized to smaller rocks in places, some perennials mixed in along with solar lights to light up the driveway at night.

I do like the idea of some sort of plants too. But do you need to keep it 'plain' for snow removal/pushing aside? Here in ND we think a lot about snow ;-) I like the idea of some solar lights. But lining the entire driveway with them does kind of make it look more like an airplane runway.....Of course that's just my opinion. ;-) I think your house is very appealing and whatever you do, you'll do it with great style. :-D

I grew Privat hedges along both sides and husband brought in tall posts (about 8 ft tall) for the solar lights so we didn't have to keep taking them down in the winter. (Yes, it does look like an airport runway but since it curves and goes strait up...its a comfort to know where the driveway is when its dark outside) Privat hedges are very hardy and grow fast, but they do need trimmed unless there's a 'dwarf' version? My husband wanted Boxwood for a 'softer' look and he is a landscaper so you may want to research those.
