I'm sure some of you are too young to remember the 60's and 70's. Those were happenin' times, my friend!
Rock and roll.
Make love, not war.
Coke is the real thing.
And REALLY ugly decor! Seriously! Who ever thought that harvest gold and avocado were beautiful colors?!
Can you say depressing? Oh. And don't forget that awful brown too. I think our oven was that brown color. Uggg.
There is one good thing about all that ugly- it is really cheap at thrift stores now!!!
I got this non-working light for $3.00!!

My original plan was to just wrap some jute rope around the thing- glass and all. Just cover that puppy up!!
Then I spray painted all the pieces with a hammered nickel spray paint to give it an old world feel- well actually because this color was on the top of the pile of spray paint. Haha!
As it turned out, removing the glass also meant that the bottom frame was unattached. I used a wood shim to reattach it. I like that so much that I ended up using shims all the way around the fixture.
If you want all the details come over to the lake (blog) and read all about it! I would love to see you there!

Mcgypsy9 on Jan 16, 2016Omg I loved the 70's! Hubby and I were just talking about that last night, how the 70's was the best time of our lives! ANY HOW...what a great way to save those god awful ugly hanging lights! Sounds like the ideas came as you moved through the recreating process which is awesome! A lot of my projects start out as something I have a vision for and then as I proceed my vision changes and I usually end up with an awesome piece! I have to commend you on this one for sure. I have seen these ugly lamps in all the thrift stores and never could even envision something from them. NOW I KNOW! WHAT A FABULOUS MAKEOVER!!! Hey I do want to let you know that your link above goes to La la land so you might want to check it out! Glad you are with Peace with your piece 😊 GREAT JOB!
